According to an official post on Ubisoft’s website, Rainbow Six Siege has managed to garner more than 25 million players, and in a bid to expand that user base even further, a limited time Free Play Weekend will occur next week on February 15, 2018 across the title’s PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms. Should one choose to purchase a copy of the the tactical shooter after or during the Free Play Weekend, their in-game progress will carry over to the full version.
Ubisoft also used the aforementioned Rainbow Six Siege blog post to announce that the game’s Year 3 Season 1 content, Operation Chimera, will launch on February 19, 2018 for PC through its testing realm. The content will then be released to all players on all platforms on March 6, 2018. What’s more is that the publisher and developer has plans to make the co-op mode Outbreak available on the test server on February 20, 2018 before it hits all systems for a limited time from March 6 through April 3.
All things considered, it’s great to see Ubisoft continuing to support Rainbow Six Siege with fresh content so long after its initial launch date, and offering gamers who haven’t tried it out the chance to do so with the forthcoming Free Play Weekend. Thankfully, those who decide to give the game a go during the free weekend and choose to buy the tactical shooter won’t have to face any cost increases, as Ubisoft recently decided to keep the standard edition’s price the same following backlash from its fan base after the company announced a price hike.
Rainbow Six Siege is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
