Milwaukee acquired top outfield prospect Lewis Brinson, pitching prospect Louis Ortiz and a player to be named. The Rangers were able to keep several of their other top young players, including Jurickson Profar, Nomar Mazara and Joey Gallo, out of the deal.

Lucroy was on his way to the Indians last week, but he blocked the trade, fearing a loss of playing time with Yan Gomes under contract. Lucroy’s no-trade clause did not include Texas. He will now have a clear path on a team contending for a World Series title.

The Rangers also received Jeffress, who has 27 saves and a sterling 2.22 ERA this season. Jeffress will either close or set up for current closer Sam Dyson.
