On the play, San Diego right-hander Kevin Quackenbush had his head down, preparing for his delivery. Andrus noticed Quackenbush was preoccupied and broke for home, making it nearly two-thirds of the way down the line before Quackenbush recognized what was happening and made an off-target throw to the plate. Andrus slid in effortlessly to give the Rangers an 8-4 lead in the seventh inning.

Andrus’ steal came not long after his bases-loaded single broke a 4-4 tie in that inning.
The Rangers won the game 8-6. With the Astros losing to the Mariners, Texas moved to three games behind first-place Houston in the American League West.
